This week's Product Story showcases Daikin and how they utilize the Stratasys F770 3D printer as the solution to two challenges.

Daiken is considered an innovator and world-leading provider of customizable heating and air conditioning systems for residential, commercial and industrial properties. They are familiar with the use of additive manufacturing technology and knew this was where they would find the solution to both of their challenges.

The Challenges

Stratasys F770 3D Printed ClampChallenge #1: Creating a more efficient nozzle to direct airflow in test chambers. The current open and close process for changing airflow is time-consuming and creating a new one using standard machining on the aluminum stock would be expensive.

Challenge #2: Producing custom spacers for HVAC cabinets that need modification to fit designs has a long lead-time and requires expensive tooling. An alternative method with consistent results was needed for fabrication to fulfill requirements for multiple spacer configurations.

The Single Solution

Stratasys F770 3D Printed SpacersIn both cases, the Stratasys F770 was the perfect match. The large build chamber offered sufficient size to make a more efficient and cost-effective nozzle for testing and also provided the ability to print a full complement of spacers in a single print using ABS thermoplastic.

This solution not only provided the products they needed but also allowed them to improve test procedures, gave them a 93% cost savings on the nozzle and a 93% saving in time with the in-house production of the panel spacers. They are also now able to quickly produce new iterations of the spacer designs for their customized units.

About the Stratasys F770

Using this affordable, large-format 3D printer that has a 13 cubic-foot build volume, you will be able to build sizeable parts up to a meter long without skimping on complexity while experiencing an easy-to-use platform with the reliability and consistency of Stratasys FDM technology.

The F770 is exceptional for printing large parts, but if you want to print multiple of the same thing, this printer's generous capacity also makes it easy to make multiple parts for maximum productivity. Open up your world to new opportunities for manufacturing, prototyping and production-part applications that aren’t available with smaller printers!
