The third day of SOLIDWORKS World 2019 began with a unique approach to the general session. Unlike the traditional general sessions where every attendee gathers to watch the speakers on the main stage, day three of SOLIDWORKS World 2019 began with three concurrent general sessions, allowing participants to dive into the topic of their choice. Here’s a brief description of the three fascinating general sessions made available to attendees.

Design to Profit

In this session, SOLIDWORKS featured their experts and customers, allowing them to showcase the tools and solutions that can turn ideas into reality. Presenters shared their newest workflows and methods to get their products from design to manufacture and ultimately sold using seamlessly integrated solutions made possible with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

New Horizons

In this session, an assortment of amazing SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD customers shared their experiences developing barrier-breaking products outside of mechanical design. With the constantly evolving SOLIDWORKS platform providing cutting edge 3D CAD and collaboration tools, the topics discussed in this session challenged attendees to leverage the plethora of SOLIDWORKS solutions to explore the farthest reaches of their imagination.

The Future of Research & Development

This session featured presenters from the SOLIDWORKS team who shared the cutting-edge technologies taking form at Dassault Systèmes/SOLIDWORKS R&D Labs. The inspiring topics covered in this session provided attendees with a vision of the future of CAD, exploring the latest innovations that will shape 3D design in the coming years.

After the general sessions, the conference continued in its usual fashion with fascinating breakout sessions that suited the interest of every attendee. Having the sessions organized into “tracks” allowed the participants to easily identify the presentations that were most impactful for them.

SOLIDWORKS World 2019 Presentation Day3

As part of TriMech’s Project Engineering Group (PEG), I pilot the professional SOLIDWORKS Visualize rendering services for our clients and made it a goal to focus on sessions within the “Visualization” track. I attended all sessions related to SOLIDWORKS’ new Extended Reality (XR) technology, which provides a direct path for bringing your SOLIDWORKS part and assembly display states, configurations and even motion studies into augmented and virtual reality environments. The buzz words augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) have been commonplace throughout the conference and the technology was heavily represented in the Partner Pavilion. The common thread I’m noticing is a heavy focus on design collaboration with virtual environments. It is clear that AR and VR technologies are poised to fundamentally change how we innovate and interact with our CAD designs.

As a presenter, this conference has certainly kept me busy, but I couldn’t be happier about it. The concentration of passionate SOLIDWORKS users here in Dallas is unparalleled to anywhere on the planet and I’m honored to be a part of it. Learning and networking are so vitally important, yet easier than ever when so many like-minded people gather together in what truly feels like a welcoming community.

Time for Fun

The day wrapped up with the special event in the evening at Gilly’s Dallas. It’s an amazing and huge venue that provided enough room and entertainment for thousands of SOLIDWORKS World attendees to socialize and let loose.

SOLIDWORKS Worl 2019 Armadillo Race

The festivities were endless. There were multiple live musical performances occurring throughout the venue, featuring 80’s rock, country and just about any song cover you can imagine. There were so many options available to attendees that made it impossible for me to cover them all. From the armadillo racing and mechanical calf roping, you can get the sense that this was one crazy event. It doesn’t matter what continent you are from or who you work for, we were all there for the same purpose: the SOLIDWORKS community experience.
