I can’t believe it’s over already. SOLIDWORKS World 2016 went by like a flash!
In just three short days, the TriMech team and more than 5,000 of our peers attended hundreds breakout sessions on topics ranging from design automation and electrical design to simulation and product data management.
Many of our own engineers hosted breakouts at this year’s event. But our AEs weren’t the only ones showcasing their knowledge. Our clients were out in force, leading several technical sessions on CAD technology, SOLIDWORKS MBD and more.
Mike Sveda, CAD Administrator and Mechanical Designer at ABCO Automation, shared 18 years’ of SOLIDWORKS experience during two breakouts on Tuesday and Wednesday.
His presentation, Weldments Best Practices, explained how to capture design intent, configure welding machines, detail weldment drawings and build cut lists.
“[SOLIDWORKS] sent an email out [asking for presenters]. I sent my proposal in and forgot about it for a few months. Then, I get an email saying I had been selected. It was almost out of the blue!”
This was Mike first year presenting, but he’s no stranger to SOLDWORKS World. Mike attended the event two times previously, visiting Orlando and San Antonio (his favorite).
“The city, the River Walk, the food…. so good!” Mike said.
Mike’s presentation was a huge hit. I sat in on his last session, and there was a huge line of people at the end waiting to ask questions or request a copy of the presentation.
ABCO Automation, a longtime TriMech client, is a Greensboro, NC-based company providing customized industrial automation systems to manufacturers worldwide. Founded in 1977, ABCO strives to provide a single source for innovative solutions, automation services and manufacturing support.
“Customers come to us looking for an automation solution,” Mike explained. “That could mean a machine that does assembling, a packaging system or a full-blown robot."
Mike had worked with TriMech at a previous company and was quick to recommend us when he started at ABCO 12 years ago.
“When I got to ABCO, they were unhappy with the service and tech support they currently had,” Mike said. “The decision was made at the management level to switch to TriMech based off of these recommendations.”
Since that time, TriMech has helped many ABCO employees get technical help fast.
“I tell people to call [tech support] when I can’t answer the question. My favorite tech support person is Lisa [Hughey].”
You hear that, Lisa? Kudos!
We’re glad to see Mike and the rest of the ABCO team are as happy working with us as we are working with them.
