On April 21, the TriMech team attended the 2016 South Carolina Manufacturing Conference and Expo at the TD Convention Center in Greenville, SC. This annual event exposes high school students to a variety of technically-oriented jobs and provides guidance about alternative career paths.

Our application engineers facilitated video presentations and provided students with an interactive SOLIDWORKS experience.

Students sat down with SOLIDWORKS 2016 and performed basic design functions, like creating sketches, modeling simple shapes, applying materials to the part and rendering them, all with little to no guidance.

Students also had access to the 3Dconnexion Space Pilot where they could see how easily a part can be rotated and maneuvered within a 3D environment. Plus, a few 3D printed parts, rendered in SOLIDWORKS, were on hand for demonstration.

"To my surprise, many of these students were already experienced with 3D CAD," Warren McCray, TriMech Application Engineer, said.

"From what I observed, the future will be in good hands with this generation. They were so bright, full of enthusiasm and eager to try SOLIDWORKS."

The photos we took don't do justice to the great deal of interest the students had in SOLIDWORKS and 3D printing. Surprisingly, they all did very well, and some would even like to come to TriMech for training... if their parents approve, of course!

"I can see very bright futures for both men and women of their generation," Warren added.
