TriMech is fortunate to work with clients from Maine to Florida and out to Arkansas, offering a range of engineering solutions. This week's client story showcases how TriMech's Project Engineering Group helped the Ben Bronz Academy with their keyboard devices.

The Challenge

The Ben Bronz Academy specializes in Cyber Slate assisted learning; a program that helps students become fluent in a skill by doing one-minute timed exercises. The educators at the Academy use a device that mounts onto a keyboard for finger separation. The current design for this device wasn’t fit for newer keyboards, so they needed to upgrade their design to be able to place the separator on newer keyboard versions.

Working With TriMech's Project Engineering Group

TriMech’s Project Engineering Group specializes in providing clients with solutions to different problems. The Ben Bronz Academy team needed someone to help them work on their new keyboard finger separator. Luckily for them, the Project Engineering Group is equipped with a team of expert designers that could take on their project and help them come up with the ideal design to solve their need.

After they reached out to us, we discussed their issues, and they shipped their current design along with samples of the keyboards they were interested in purchasing directly to our local office. Once we received the sample parts, the design challenges became apparent and clear. We discussed the design goals with the Academy director and began the design process.

We evaluated their current design and used SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD to model different features based on the new measurements and specs for what could become their new model. The Project Engineering Group also offers rapid prototyping services, so we took advantage of our in-house Stratasys FDM 3D printer and created different sample parts for them to try on their keyboards, based on their upgraded design.

As a professional educator, the director became very interested in our approach and engineering methods. We were also very excited to work on a project that would help others, so we started to collaborate and document our process with the client.
