By Madeleine Hartle on February 5, 2015

We are excited to announce the winner of our Makerbot giveaway!

Following our SOLIDWORKS 2015 Launch events, ModernTech randomly selected one attendee to receive a Makerbot Replicator Mini Compact 3D printer for his or her business. This year’s winner is Barry Adams from AutomationDirect.

Alex Gooding, ModernTech Regional Account Manager, presents AutomationDirect's Barry Adams with his prize.

AutomationDirect is a PLC (programmable logic controller) sales company using SOLIDWORKS to create and render 3D models of automation equipment. The models are available to design engineers to download and use in their designs. AutomationDirect also uses SOLIDWORKS Electrical to create intelligent electrical models with connection points.

Barry plans to use the Makerbot to print high-quality prototypes of audio and vehicle components, as well as various experimental designs.

“I have a great idea for a coaster design for starters,” Barry said. “I will also experiment with printing examples of shells of some of our products.”

Barry can already see great benefits to using 3D printing for his product design.

“It's absolutely amazing what options are available for clear, translucent and even wood grain PLA with this printer,” he said. “It greatly enhances our ability to accomplish our mission of superlative customer satisfaction and product information.”

We are happy to have helped yet another company meet their goals using 3D printing technology. Congratulations, Barry!
