Hidden Gems in SOLIDWORKS 2017 or Later

    July 10, 2020

Every year, there is excitement and anticipation within the engineering and designing community as SOLIDWORKS releases new enhancements and features for the software. At TriMech, we have made it a tradition to put together a list to highlight our top favorite enhancements. With all the excitement it's sometimes easy to forget about previous updates that continue to make our lives easier and allow us to get the job done quicker. I wanted to take a trip down memory lane and refresh the updates from SOLIDWORKS 2017 and later that still impact our design experience as we use SOLIDWORKS. While there are a lot out there, I am going to highlight some of my favorites for you here.

    Importing Non-Native Files into SOLIDWORKS

    September 10, 2019

Although we love SOLIDWORKS and think everyone should be using the software, there are occasions where you may need to import non-native SOLIDWORKS files. That poses the question, what file formats will work with SOLIDWORKS? There are a couple of ways to handle this situation. In recent years, you have had the choice of converting these files to imported bodies, or leaving them in their native format. Let's dive into what files will work with standard SOLIDWORKS and how to import them.

A Day in the Life of a Swim Mom

    July 20, 2018

Being a swim mom, I spend a lot of time in places that are hot, humid and smell of chlorine. My daughter swims competitively year-round, so there is rarely a weekend where I am not sitting poolside, sweating while cheering her on. One thing that has always caught my attention, is the number of girls swimming with long hair. Olympic men shave their bodies to reduce drag, so what can a thin swim cap do to prevent drag for a girl with long hair? There also doesn't seem to be any reasoning behind where the lump of hair ends up on their head. This made the engineering side of my brain wake up and question if the location of the lump under the cap mattered at all.
